Kirk Malzer Takes 1st Place in Steak B at the 2025 Shed Showdown

Ocean Springs, MS – January 2025 – Kirk Malzer, CEO of Fat Boy Hickman’s BBQ, secured a major victory at the 7th Annual Shed Showdown in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, taking 1st place in the Steak B category. This marks his first major win in a Steak Cookoff Association (SCA) event.

Held January 15–18, 2025, at the iconic Shed BBQ & Blues Joint, the Shed Showdown is a premier barbecue competition featuring five cook-off categories, including Steak A and Steak B. The event drew top-tier competitors from across the country, all vying for a share of the $25,000 prize pool. In the Steak B category, Malzer competed against renowned chef Troy Johnson, ultimately finishing 2nd in the head-to-head Shed Showdown cook-off, decided by a close 3–2 vote from a panel of renowned BBQ and SCA judges.
