Freshness Tips & Allergen Info

Keeping Your Rubs Fresh

  • Store all rubs away from heat and moisture. Do not store them near the stove nor by the dishwasher or any other appliance where moisture or humidity can affect them.
  • Do not put rubs in your refrigerator. This could cause clumping. Keep them cool (68 degrees F maximum, 20 degrees C) as well as dry.
  • Store all your spices away from light. Direct exposure to sunlight and to fluorescent light will cause spices to lose their potency over time.
  • Always completely close the lids tightly after using the containers.
  • Measure out amount of seasoning desired AWAY from cooking food products, using a dry measuring spoon. Never sprinkle seasonings into a food item that is emitting steam, as moisture will get into rubs and cause caking and clumping.
  • Our dry rubs will not spoil, and, if the above guidelines are followed, should remain fresh and fully flavorful for 2 years.

All of Fat Boy Natural BBQ rubs contain a “born on” date. A “born on” date is the date the product was packaged. All Fat Boy Natural BBQ rubs have a “best by” date of two years after the “born on” date. The USDA states that a “best by” date is used as a guideline for a product to be on the shelf before purchase. It is in no way an expiration date. According to the USDA most products are safe to consume long after the “best by” date has passed. It is our policy not to send any product less than 3 months from the “best buy” date. Any products that are “short dated” are sold at a discount and the date is stated in the listing when purchasing the product.
